The magic of photography is an art of susceptibility. Light and shadows are the essence passed to each other, serving the spirit of creation, while collateral to them are also the objects' shapes and lines. How one can catch the right moment, that split of a second in order to show the distinguishing features of the object? So we can compare this photographic art surely compatible to construction designs due the similarity and taste. But when this precicable moment is captured on film it cannot be changed much and is to stay forever as it was in reality. Then the captured film image becomes a matter of choice and discussions. Someone says it's wonderful, beautiful, while others have an opposite opinion. There could even be a third category of viewers with indifferent or a neutral opinion. As a photographer I have to accept all the criticism good or bad, and to continue my creative work, yearning to reach new heights, to search and capture new split - seconds of the art of photography. The formation of a professional photographer and the following career as seen from some of my personal recollections was not an easy task. Time, practice by using many types of cameras, from elementary "boxes" to high speed modern technological marvels with telescopic tubes, and, of course love, comprehension for art are needed and had been thoroughly examined in practice. I still well remember the teenage years, sitting in a dark room with a red light on, looking at the developing process, primitive as it was then, but always fascinated by the positive's photo slow appearance in the developing liquids, catching the exact time needed to end this process. These lessons became unforgettable for simultaneous teaching and practice. I recollect them as nostalgia about events gone and never to be experienced again. Professional digital photography cameras came as a shock after a memorable trip to Hawaii. The effect of the voyage, meetings with local people, natural beauty, unforgettable panoramas and the ocean had changed many of my views and stimulated to use digital photography in a serious professional style. My personal experience as a professional sometimes experienced difficulties and complications and such work depends much on contacts with people plus access to knowledge. Kristian, my good friend, recommended to contact with the on line for trade iStock, while friendship with Banchy in Tel-Aviv pressed the impetuosity to catch that necessary split second. Who is Banchy? She is working as a model. Her name is Rachel Mekonan and she captured my heart. Born in Ethiopia, brought to Israel as an infant. Beautiful in outward appearance, with a charming character. It is easy to work with her and she is always "feeling" the camera… Her cheerfulness takes off my dissatisfaction and irritation when missing the focus, or the light, as we say "loosing the best cadre". She is always attentive and in is an easy constructive mood, conquering me with tranquility of her voice. Uniting our energy in black white contrast photos both of us continue the everlasting search for new artistic merits. My works are for sale: iStock. |
